Creating Distance

Creating distance to a distraction is usually the easiest and fastest way to make it easier for your dog to focus.

Note that you can move away from a distraction more than once:

You can start out by moving away 20ft, and if your dog is still struggling too much at this distance, you can move away another 20ft (if the setup allows that).
We do not always get our dog back after the first distance, so it is always worth it to keep moving away instead of giving up right away.

But of course:
Sometimes the environment is just too hard and we need to call it quits and start over at an easier place. And that’s totally okay!
