Car Boundaries I: Distance

Let’s build some distance for our new skill!

In the first step we somewhat “blocked the dog’s path”. We stood very closely and made it less likely that our dog would attempt to leave their position.

Now we want to take some steps back and work on our dog’s understanding:
“Even if the human steps away, I still stay put!”

It is very important that you always reward the dog in position.
Do not call your dog to you to reward – this would give them a false idea of where the value lies.
(The value lies in staying in the car, not in leaving the car and running after you)
