Mat work will be an incredibly useful skill for working with our dogs in public places.
It gives them a “place to go” and an opportunity to relax their body and mind.

Of course, we always start teaching inside, in an environment without distractions first.

Once our dogs understand the basics of mat work, we can start to take it to different locations.

Tip: Later on when we are using mat work in public places, we will use a thin blanket or mat.
When you are starting out however, it is easiest for the dog if you use a higher mat/bed of some sort.
